Mark E. Pangle
Chair of the Board
Owner, Pangle Real Estate and Auction Company
representing Shenandoah CountyMark Pangle, a member of the Certified Auctioneers Institute (CAI) and an Accredited Auctioneer of Real Estate (AARE), has worked in the real estate business for 28 years. A Maurertown resident, Pangle has worked as a real estate broker, appraiser and auctioneer for Pangle Real Estate and Auction Company Inc. since 1980. For excellence in his field, Pangle was inducted into the Hall of Fame for The Virginia Association of Auctioneers in 2006 and was awarded Virginia's Outstanding Auctioneer of the Year Award for 2001. Pangle holds an associate degree in general studies from LFCC and a bachelor's degree in political science from James Madison University. Pangle said, "I enjoy serving on the Foundation Board, because it gives you a good feeling to help people who are in need of help and then see them succeed!"

Jim Wells
Vice Chair of the Board
Director of Pharmacy, Warren Memorial Hospital
representing Warren CountyJim Wells, a Front Royal resident, is the director of pharmacy at Warren Memorial Hospital, which is part of Valley Health. Wells earned a bachelor's degree from the West Virginia University School of Pharmacy. In addition to his work, Wells serves as a pharmacy preceptor for Bernard J. Dunn School of Pharmacy at Shenandoah University and is involved with several local organizations, including the Warren County School Board and Front Royal Lions Club. Wells said, "I enjoy serving on the Foundation Board, because it not only allows me to meet many of our supporters and keep them informed of the great things happening at LFCC, but it gives me the opportunity to regularly see through reports and interaction with faculty, staff and, most importantly, students where the funds are going and the change they are making in the students' careers and lives."

Sarah J. Yakel
Treasurer of the Board
Vice President and Trust Officer, Fauquier Bank
representing Fauquier CountySarah Yakel, a Fauquier County resident, is vice president of the Fauquier Bank in Warrenton. As a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNERTM professional, Yakel works with clients to manage their investment and trust accounts. She also prepares comprehensive financial plans for individuals to address and solve their personal concerns and assist them in meeting their future financial goals. Yakel holds a bachelor's degree in business administration from Campbell University in North Carolina. Yakel said, "I enjoy serving on the Foundation Board, because I love supporting local students to achieve a brighter future."

Cheryl Thompson-Stacy
Secretary of the Board
President, LFCCDr. Cheryl Thompson-Stacy is the president of LFCC. She began this position in January 2009 after serving as the president of Eastern Shore Community College (ESCC) in Melfa, Va. Before her position at ESCC, Thompson-Stacy served as vice president for academic and student affairs at Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College. She also held top academic posts at Cuyahoga Community College in Cleveland and at Jefferson Community College in Steubenville, Ohio. She earned a doctorate in education from the University of Sarasota (now Argosy University) and three degrees from Kent State University: a master of business administration, a master of educational administration and a bachelor’s degree in business administration.

David J. Urso
Executive Director
Director of Development, LFCCDavid Urso, a Strasburg resident, is the new director of development at LFCC and executive director of the LFCC Educational Foundation Inc. Before being named Director of Development, Urso served as Coordinator of student life in the Office of Student Success at LFCC. He graduated from James Madison University with a bachelor’s degree in conflict management and holds a master’s degree in educational psychology, also from JMU. He is currently completing doctoral work at Colorado State University.

Kenneth L. Alger II
Assistant Commonwealth's Attorney for Shenandoah County
representing Page CountyKenneth L. Alger II, a Stanley resident, works as the assistant commonwealth's attorney for Shenandoah County. In this position, he prosecutes a wide range of felony and misdemeanor cases each year. Alger believes that LFCC helps ensure that an education is available to everyone, not just the privileged elite. Alger holds a bachelor's degree in sociology and psychology from the University of Virginia and a juris doctorate from the University of Georgia. Alger said, "I enjoy serving on the LFCC Educational Foundation Board, because I enjoy helping others achieve their goals.”

Karen Bucher
Director of Enrollment Management/Registrar
representing Frederick CountyKaren Bucher, a Stephens City resident, works at LFCC as the director of enrollment management/registrar. In this position, she oversees the College’s Financial Aid Office, the Admissions and Records Office and the Testing Center. She is also responsible for the implementation of an enrollment management plan, which focuses on increased student recruitment and retention. Bucher began working at LFCC in 2004 as the coordinator of financial aid programs. Bucher holds an associate degree in education and human services from LFCC, a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Shenandoah University and a master’s degree in human services counseling from Liberty University. In addition, Bucher is currently working on her doctorate in community college leadership through Old Dominion University.

James “Jim” Cobb
Retired School Administrator
representing Warren CountyJim Cobb, a Front Royal resident, recently retired after 38 years as an educator in Warren County. During his career, Cobb taught math, served as a guidance director and worked as a supervisor of testing. He graduated from Clarke County High School and went on to obtain a bachelor's degree in history from Bridgewater College and master's degree in counseling from James Madison University.

representing Fauquier CountyMark F. Hyson, a Warrenton resident, is an attorney with Walker Jones, P.C. Hyson holds bachelor's degrees in economics and political science from Virginia Tech and a juris doctorate from the Pennsylvania State University's Dickinson School of Law. Hyson believes that LFCC provides individuals who are willing to work to improve their future with the chance to succeed.

Shanna Kuhlman
LFCC Student
representing Warren CountyShanna Kuhlman, a student at LFCC, lives in Front Royal. Shanna is working towards an associate degree in liberal arts and a certificate in wildlife and nature photography. Shanna is active in several organizations, including Y-Malawi, Kid’s Cancer Crusade, Student Photographic Society and the National Association of the Deaf. Her interests are history, anthropology and photography, and she has a love for travel that fuels her passion for photography.

Gilbert Mack
Senior Pastor, Mt. Carmel Baptist Church
representing the City of WinchesterGilbert M. Mack Jr., a Winchester resident, is senior pastor of Mt. Carmel Baptist Church and a commissioned officer in the U.S. Army Reserve. He graduated from the U.S Army Ordinance School and holds a bachelor's degree in sociology from McDaniel College and a master of divinity degree from Howard University School of Divinity. In addition, he is a doctoral degree candidate at Friends International Christian University. Mack was inspired to serve on the LFCC Educational Foundation Board after watching many of his church members improve their lives by attending LFCC. He was also inspired by the College's mission and leadership and LFCC's genuine concern for the community.

Marie Firth Murphy
Retired Executive Director of the Monroe Public Schools Foundation in Washington
representing Clarke CountyAfter growing up in Virginia, Marie lived for 30 years in Washington State, raising three daughters there. She recently moved back to Virginia with her husband of a year and a half when he accepted the position of Clarke County Schools Superintendent.
Marie graduated from Seattle University in accounting and practiced as a CPA for 15 years. Switching careers she worked for the Monroe Public Schools 6 years, first as a Career Counselor, then as the Executive Director of the Monroe Public Schools Foundation.
Marie is a current member of the Clarke County Rotary and is serving on the Rotary Board of Directors.

Lisa M. Prodywus
Marketing Manager, The Library Corporation
representing Frederick CountyLisa M. Prodywus is the marketing manager for The Library Corporation in Inwood, W.Va. She is also a graduate of LFCC, where she received two associate degrees, and Hood College, where she received a bachelor’s degree. Lisa volunteers as a docent for Glen Burnie Manor House and Gardens and Long Branch. Also, she volunteers for art shows and worked with Winchester Public School Channel 20 programs.

Office Manager, Luray-Page County Center, Lord Fairfax Community College
representing Page CountyJudith J. Suddith, a Luray resident, works at LFCC as the office manager of the Luray-Page County Center. Her main responsibility is to oversee the general office operations of the Center to ensure efficient and effective service to students and LFCC employees. Suddith holds an associate degree in media technology from Allegany College of Maryland and a bachelor's degree in communication arts with a specialization in radio, television and film from James Madison University.

Robert “Rob” M. Talton
Assistant Vice President and Financial Center Manager, Wells Fargo / Wachovia Bank, N.A.
representing WinchesterRobert “Rob” M. Talton is the assistant vice president and financial center manager of Wells Fargo / Wachovia Bank, N.A. He has attended two community colleges and two four-year institutions. Rob is very active in the community and volunteers with the Gideons International (Winchester).
Rob enjoys spending time with family, sports, music and various community activities.
